Luctesa 18/173/82

Art is always a proper medicine to heal the soul. A visit to the Van Gogh Museum is even more a wonderful experience than it was the first time. Construction is still going on and with lots of new objects to see I advise you to go there.

Eson 30/235/63/

Brown University, Modern Culture and Media Department invites you to attend the opening of OSMOSA, the Open Source Museum of Open Source Art on Tuesday, April 24th, at 5PM SLT/8PM EST. OSMOSA aims to open up the process of art making and curating. "Open Source" means that visitors can add, modify, and remove art from the museum. In addition, the OSMOSA building is also open source, in that anyone can modify, add to, or delete parts of the structure. I did some 'work' on this guy.

Conference Island 128/101/37

This amazingly beautiful building shows 'objets d'art', such as a painting, a vase, etc. But it also shows signs with reference to other places in SL. like Reuters and such. It looks like a center, an exhibition hall and a museum, but what is it really?

On the Louvre and more

Two PhD students wrote a paper on museums in SL. Worth reading too. Among the museums mentioned I discovered the Louvre. New to me and worth a visit. It was not quite what I expected but still an interesting site. The paper can be read clicking the image, the Louvre is easily found using the search option and text............yes! Louvre

Cuscus 99/112/99

The Jewish Community in SL has a warm fire and some nice couches in their community building. It is open to all that wish to meet other people. The community will soon open an island that will give more room to all the different buildings and its content. The museum shows a number of portraits on famous persons, you will recognize quite a few I think. The synagogue is worth a visit for its Torah, to be seen direct, not hidden behind curtains.

SPLO 178/69/27

The museum opens with a scale telling you your weight in Rl. It told me that I was 1,78 meters and 75 kilo's. I lied a bit about my 'body - characteristics', but the length is accurate enough. It shows that my avatar is "RL- compliant", lengthwise, that is. Also that I am too short for my weight. The distorted room does what it says to all variables, but you can walk away to another evenly interesting object, like the security scanner. It left my hat and cane, the rest........I haven't a clue!

Immaculate 199/207/39

It is all about chemistry: organic and anorganic. Not my favourite subject but a lot of people will like to stand next their chromosomes. I got the T - shirt anyway and there is a coffeecup to take away too. Freshly openend BSC has another building on Mendel. Never heard of him, better have a look there too! Oh, please do something about the elevator, if you forget to enter you 're lost for ever.

SL Historical Museum 202/161/33

Did you know that day in Second Life is 4 hours long, with 3 hours of daytime and 1 hour of night. Many other quirks of the sun and moon: The sun orbits the SL world and travels faster during night, the moon is always full, there will not be an eclipse for many many Earth years, a year in SL is 10 days long. This and much more information can be found here. An amusing and illuminating afternoon, if you take the time to see all things and read all notecards.

International Spaceflight Museum 47/77/24

When old enough one remembers the Apollo 11 - flight in July 1969. We stayed up to watch the first men walking on the moon. Some people still believe that is was filmed in a studio, somewhere. Either true or not, the experience or wonderful illusion is kept alive in this museum that brings you up to date on all sorts of products of this magnificent project.

Svarga 74/185/28

Much more interesting on this time of the day is Svarga, a beautiful ecological island. You can take a tour in a hub that will take you along all the hotspots. I heard birds singing, water and even a bit of thunder. The scenes are amazing. Plants and trees will grow and multiply as they would in RL. Lovely objects can be obtained in a shop, e.g. little wooden boxes to feed the birds and diy - kits for building a home in the trees. A nice outing for a rainy day!!
